Magistrate

The municipal council is the actual administrative body of the city. As a collegiate body, it prepares and implements the resolutions of the municipal council. It deals with the day-to-day administration of the city within the framework of the funds available and also has the task of regulating matters that have been transferred to it by the legislature (Bundestag or Landtag). To this end, the Hofheim am Taunus municipal council usually meets once a week. The meetings are not open to the public.

The municipal council currently consists of the mayor and the first city councillor as well as twelve other honorary city councillors. The mayor is directly elected by the citizens for a term of six years. The City Council elects the First City Councillor for a term of office of six years. The honorary city councillors are elected for the duration of their own term of office, i.e. for five years.
