Living

Housing benefit is support from the state for citizens who are unable to cover their housing costs independently due to insufficient income. However, as housing is one of people's basic needs, the state developed housing benefit. Since then, it has been paid in the form of a rent subsidy (for tenants of residential property) or an encumbrance subsidy (for owners of residential property). There is only a legal entitlement to housing benefit if the requirements of the Housing Benefit Act (WoGG) are met.

Since July 2013, the district committee of the Main-Taunus district has been the granting authority for housing benefit.
