Registration (notarization) of a birth
The birth of a child must be registered in person by one of the parents at the registry office in the place of birth within one week.
As a rule, the following documents must be submitted to certify the birth:
The certificate of the midwife or doctor who was present at the birth
If you are married:
- Original proof of marriage - marriage certificate
- Birth certificates of both parents
- Informal declaration by the parents regarding the child's first name and surname
Identity card or passport of both parents
If you are not married to each other
- the birth certificates of both parents
- Proof of the mother's marital status (certificate of residence from the registration office)
- the certificate of recognition of paternity (with the mother's declaration of consent), if this was recognized before the birth
- informal declaration by the parents on the child's first name and surname
- the identity cards (passports) of both parents
- Should the child be given the father's surname? Name assignment at the registry office or declaration of custody at the youth welfare office
