Hofheim Community Foundation
On September 28, 2010, the "Bürgerstiftung Hofheim" was formally "launched" and has since supported numerous projects. Wolfgang Vater, then head of the city council, and Gisela Stang, then mayor, as members of the foundation's board of directors, as well as Axel Warnecke, board member of Taunus Sparkasse and chairman of the foundation's board of trustees, signed the foundation charter at the time, thereby also putting the statutes into effect.
In 2009, an elderly citizen of Hofheim, who wishes to remain anonymous, offered the town 200,000 euros, which prompted the establishment of this foundation. The foundation focuses on supporting children, young people and the elderly, but in order to facilitate endowments, the purpose of the foundation was broadly defined in the statutes.
The foundation is managed under the umbrella of Taunus Sparkasse. The "Bürgerstiftung Hofheim" is an independent, autonomously acting, charitable foundation by citizens for citizens and is committed to the community in a sustainable and lasting way and can already dispose of the founder's basic assets. The foundation aims to serve the common good, strengthen the community in Hofheim and mobilize forces of innovation. At the same time, the community foundation would like to encourage other citizens to participate in the foundation through donations and to contribute to the responsible management of social tasks in Hofheim.

In individual cases, the purposes can also be promoted outside Hofheim, provided there is a connection to Hofheim. As the expenditure for the foundation's purposes may not affect the foundation's assets, but must only be financed by the respective income, endowments are still being sought as a basis for the remaining foundation purposes. However, in order for the endowment to generate funds for a specific purpose, such an "earmarked" endowment should amount to at least €25,000.
In addition, even small amounts can help to achieve the foundation's objectives. Unless otherwise specified, donations of € 200 or more are added to the Hofheim Community Foundation's endowment fund. Donations of up to € 200 are treated as donations and are promptly allocated to a project in line with the purpose of the foundation. This also allows smaller project donations to be used to specifically support individual foundation purposes.
The first 4 projects are intended to illustrate the wide range of possibilities offered by the foundation. The electronic musical instrument ReacTable is an expansion of music education programs in the Haus der Jugend, while the People's Theater is about promoting self and social skills as a prevention project for children and young people. The third target group aims to help single parents - and socially disadvantaged families on educational and parental leave - to strengthen their parenting skills. The program for a dementia-friendly community aims to reach professional groups or groups of people who encounter people with dementia and their relatives in a private or professional context. This range is also intended to make it clear that almost anyone can get involved here and thus contribute to strengthening and promoting a sense of community in Hofheim and that commitment here cannot only be exercised 'by the state'.
In this sense, the community foundation aims to strengthen the sense of community and the shared responsibility of the citizens of Hofheim, as the foundation may not take on any tasks that are part of the statutory duties of the city of Hofheim.
