Review: Establishment of climate protection management in 2023
Climate protection manager for the district town
For the first time, there is a climate protection manager in the town hall: geoscientist Monique Delbos is now devoting herself to the question of what the district town of Hofheim am Taunus can do to protect the climate. "Climate change is already being felt by everyone," says Mayor Christian Vogt. "Hofheim also had to contend with drought and forest fires last summer."
Monique Delbos' first task is to analyze the current situation and draw up a greenhouse gas balance sheet. She looks at where a particularly large amount of energy can be saved - for example by switching to LEDs and carrying out energy-efficient renovations. "Climate protection management not only helps to reduce emissions - but also costs." Her focus is on the municipality itself, but also on the citizens. "Everyone can change small things in their everyday lives," says Delbos, who herself travels to work in Hofheim by bus, for example.
Monique Delbos worked at the Hessian State Agency for Nature Conservation, Environment and Geology and previously completed her Master's degree in Geosciences at Goethe University Frankfurt. She specialized in researching climate change in the past. "This is precisely why I want to help limit climate change in the present." She is planning events on the topic and would also like to work with schools.
