Violence and crime are issues that concern everyone in Germany and the world in different ways. Hofheim am Taunus is not an island of bliss.

In 1998, the town council recommended that the magistrate work together with representatives of socially relevant groups within the framework of a prevention council to reduce lawbreaking, create a positive sense of security among the population and achieve the most rational approach to crime possible.

Since then, the Hofheim Prevention Council has been working continuously to achieve these goals, for a long time the only one in the Main-Taunus district.

The main task of the Prevention Council is to develop effective approaches to the prevention and avoidance of crime and to implement these in cooperation with social and governmental forces. Examples of this include the video protection system at the bus station, the comprehensive prevention concept involving all parties at large city festivals to prevent alcohol abuse, especially by young people, and information events on burglary prevention together with the police.

The Prevention Council meets under the chairmanship of the First City Councillor and Head of the Department of Public Safety and Order.

In order to identify possible causes of crime at an early stage, but also to be able to react to possible subjective feelings of insecurity, we ask for your cooperation. Please support us in our efforts to improve safety and the quality of life in Hofheim!

The Prevention Council is the point of contact for the citizens of Hofheim in all matters relating to crime prevention that directly affect coexistence in the city, for example

  • Preventing violence and vandalism (for example through PIT or the Violence-See-Help campaign) and burglaries (for example through the "Vigilant Neighbor" campaign)
  • Preventing the formation of youth gangs that commit crimes
  • Drug prevention
  • Concepts for leisure activities for children and young people, possibly with their participation (alcohol prevention, "zero alcohol cup")
  • Concepts for the reintegration of juvenile and adult offenders
  • Planning and design of public spaces (underpasses, parking garages, etc.) and development of suggestions for improving existing spaces, including video protection systems
  • Peaceful use of new public spaces (e.g. Kellereiplatz)
  • Further networking of the prevention councils in the Main-Taunus district
