Mainz - charming city on the Rhine (distance approx. 22 km)

Both the Romans and Johannes Gutenberg, the city's most famous son and inventor of printing with movable type, have left their mark on the city and can be discovered here. Opel Zoo - fun for the whole family (distance approx. 17 km)
The landscape zoo covers an area of over 270,000 m². Here you can observe more than 1300 animals of around 200 species, including three African elephants, a unique sight in Hesse. A paved circular path, suitable for wheelchairs and baby carriages, petting enclosures, pony and camel rides, a large adventure playground, restaurants & cafés and much more guarantee you an eventful excursion.

Saalburg Roman fort - in the footsteps of the Romans (distance approx. 20 km)
Discover the past at its original location: almost 2000 years ago, soldiers guarded the Limes, the border between the Roman Empire and the Germanic tribal areas, here. Around 19, Emperor Wilhelm II had large parts of the fort rebuilt and set it up as a museum and research institute. Since 2005, the Limes - and thus also the Saalburg - has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Eppstein Castle (distance approx. 8 km)
The partially preserved, mostly ruined castle rises above Alt-Eppstein on a foothill in the pre-Taunus region. It characterizes the townscape, is a familiar piece of home to the inhabitants and the surrounding area and attracts many thousands from the immediate and wider region every year for historical information and exciting events. The 1000-year history of this impressive building is vividly presented in the Eppstein Castle Museum. Rhine-Main Regional Park
The Rhine-Main Regional Park is intended to accompany the development of the region over the coming decades. The aim is to safeguard and enhance the existing open spaces. Step by step, a network of scenic paths and facilities has been created to date. But further paths, squares and adventure areas are also to be created in the future. Canoe rental on the Main
The Main Canoe Rental opened its rental shop in Rüsselsheim on the banks of the Main in 2023. It is possible to canoe on the Main from Frankfurt to Mainz. The operator offers individually designed tours. Anyone who wants to experience a little adventure with friends, family or work colleagues in good weather is in good hands here.

Great Feldberg
At 881 meters above sea level, the Großer Feldberg is the highest mountain in the Taunus and one of the most striking low mountain peaks in Germany. It is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the Taunus.
In snowy winters, the slopes of the mountain offer numerous opportunities for sledging and cross-country skiing. During the rest of the year, the pleasant climate ensures that the many surrounding hiking and cycling trails are very busy. The mountain's landmark is the telecommunications tower, which was built in 1937 and is over 50 m high. In good weather, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Frankfurt skyline and the Rhine-Main region as far as the mountains of the Odenwald from various viewing platforms.

Hessenpark Open-Air Museum
The Hessenpark Open-Air Museum offers visitors an exciting all-round view of 400 years of rural life in Hesse all year round. On 65 hectares of open space and in over 100 historic buildings from all parts of the state, guests can experience at first hand how people used to live and work. The lively overall presentation includes many demonstrations of crafts and agriculture, exhibitions, colorful markets, seasonal events, the museum theater and guided themed tours.
If you want to round off your visit to the museum with some shopping or a leisurely meal, you can do so on the museum's market square.
