Inclusion Advisory Board

The Inclusion Advisory Board - for and with people with disabilities (Inclusion Advisory Board) of the city of Hofheim am Taunus (formerly the Municipal Advisory Board for the Interests of People with Disabilities) represents the interests of people with disabilities in Hofheim vis-à-vis the city council and advises the political bodies on issues relevant to people with disabilities.

The Inclusion Advisory Council is elected every five years by Hofheim residents with disabilities by postal vote. The chairperson of the committee elected by the Inclusion Advisory Board is also the honorary municipal inclusion officer for the interests of people with disabilities in the town of Hofheim am Taunus and is therefore the point of contact for Hofheim residents with disabilities.

The tasks of the Inclusion Advisory Board, its formation and composition, the election and more are set out in the statutes, which were adopted by the town council in May 2020.

Its primary goal is to stand up for people with various disabilities and represent their interests. It wants to enable everyone to participate in society in all areas and improve everyday structures to achieve this. You only notice barriers when you are affected yourself. The task of the Inclusion Advisory Board is to highlight barriers and help to break them down.

A lot has happened in Hofheim since it was set up.

Here are a few examples:
- Traffic lights at central locations emit acoustic signals to assist visually impaired and blind people.
- Bus stops have been converted to be barrier-free and kerbs have been lowered so that people with mobility impairments, such as those with walking frames or wheelchairs, can use them.
- The new municipal library and the new Ländcheshalle are completely barrier-free.
- There is still a lot to be done, e.g. a traffic concept for Hofheim's old town, etc.
