Wallau, which has a population of 4,195, was incorporated into Hofheim in 1977 and the local residents are proud of their carefully restored old town and historic city hall as well as its many half-timbered homes.

Thanks to its proximity to the A66 highway (Frankfurt-Wiesbaden) and the A3 highway (Cologne-Frankfurt), Wallau also has a large business district with numerous companies, stores, restaurants, and most notably IKEA.
